This class was fine for the first semester, but the second semester proved to be too much of the same. Weller is a very nice person. My main problems with the class are not problems with the professor at all, although I feel that she expects too much regarding homework. We often have readings from two or three books, although I suspect no one reads from anything other than "Materias". I wish there was more discussion in this class, and by that I mean that I wish someone, anyone---ever---talked. My reading comprehension and appreciation for Spanish lit has grown, but my conversations skills feel like they have gotten worse. Weller is available and kind, but doesn't do much to keep the class from falling into a predictable, uninteresting routine.

Both readings and lectures are extremely boring. Readings take a long time if you want to understand them. A lot of your grade is based on daily homeworks, which is usually discussed in class, giving you the opportunity to finish it up, and a few essays, which she grades mainly on grammar, which is nice. She is also very willing to help you outside of class.

She grades homework and papers on form and content. However, these grades seem to be completely subjective. She does not have any consistency. She elected the second semester to have weekly quizzes where ten points each. There would be anywhere from 2 to 6 questions. In my opinion, 10 point quizzes should be 5-10 questions in length. One question should not be worth 9 points and the other 1 point. She´s available outside of class all the time and is a very nice person. I find it hard to respect her as a professor. I contemplating being a spanish major before these classes. I have decided against it because of this one professor.
