Simon is amazing. She does get off topic sometimes in prelab, but its almost endearing. She explains things incredibly well and is always available for questions. She makes chem lab fun.

Simon, while kind, caring, and enthusiastic about chemistry, does not stop talking in lab. Simon talks for at least a half hour, sometimes up to an hour and a half, for pre-lab. She sometimes goes completely off topic, talking about things like her undergraduate experience in chemistry, or her chemistry of art class, or how she will use the wool we dye for making cute wool hats. It gets better second semester, but during the first semester of lab, she introduces labs with over-lengthy discussions of the chemistry behind it and unnecessarily reiterates what the lab outline told us to do. If she's the only option, she's fine, but if you'd prefer getting out of lab a half hour to an hour earlier, and there are any other professors teaching lab that don't grade too hard and don't talk as much (such as Vannelli), choose them over her.

I love Simon!! She is so creative (we do fun science arts and craft projects with the byproducts of our experiments). She can write your name in hieroglyphics. She worked for Boeing, but be warned, she really really like aluminium ;)

Simon's lab class is a pretty standard lab class. if you have questions she is very available to help with them and gives lots of background info to make the labs meaningful and not just experiments.
